Today We salute Viola Davis for our Women‘s History month campaign, Herstory In The Making. Viola Davis is an American actress and producer. Davis was born in South Carolina and raised in Rhode Island by two working class parents.
Viola went on to study acting at Rhode island college and the famous Julliard school in the Big Apple. Davis won her first Tony on Broadway for the play King Hadley, and also made her debut on television through numerous guest roles.
Davis stayed the course and began to land major movie roles. Some of her most iconic roles where in movies such as Antwone Fisher (2002), Doubt (2008),The Help (2011) and Fences (2016).
Viola continues to break glass ceilings for actresses of color. She makes it a point to be Unapologetic and bold in the spaces she’s in. "Do not live someone else's life and someone else's idea of what womanhood is. Womanhood is you. Womanhood is everything that's inside of you.” say’s Davis.
